We focus on five main areas: food, fashion and textiles, plastics and packaging, electricals and electronics, and the built environment.
These five areas were chosen because they:
- are major contributors to London’s current waste volumes and/or London’s carbon emissions
- touch London’s businesses and citizens at multiple points in their lives, providing a huge opportunity for behaviour and systems change that can deliver impact
- are rich in potential resource, providing real opportunity for new circular economy business growth
In other words: because they are both a cause of the problem AND a source of solutions.
You can find out more about our five focus areas by downloading a copy of our Circular Economy Route Map or by searching for relevant content in our Resources Library.
What do we do in each focus area?
For each area we have a sector lead and a plan, with activity across each area including: research and data analysis; partnership initiatives; pilots and ‘test and learn’ projects; and behaviour change campaigns.
We collaborate closely with the One World Living initiative (part of London Councils’ climate programme), the Mayor of London and a range of businesses, boroughs and funders to develop and deliver all of this work, more detail on which can be found in the sections below.
