Your Role:

We are looking for a Material Engineer & Researcher to work on material development, operations and product deliver.

Responsabilities:

  • Research and implement sustainable and circular supply chain strategies
  • Research and development of new product samples
  • Iterating and improving on existing product samples
  • Identifying industry certification and organising internal and third-party material & product testing as required
  • Supply chain set up, implementing and monitoring supply chain operations and costs.
  • Market research around pricing, competitors and product, also market extension.
  • Other support as required such as lab and administrator support.

Your requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in managing/setting up manufacturing supply chains, production operations and industry certifications
  • Evidence of a hands-on maker approach to product development and knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques used in textiles, packaging, and product
  • Degree in a relevant discipline e.g. M.Sc Materials Science, Engineering, Product Design.
  • Strong analytical, research and critical-thinking skills
  • Openness and flexibility to adapt to the varying project and business needs and can work within tight deadlines where needed
  • Self-motivated, highly organised, methodical and detail-oriented
  • Can work dynamically and collaboratively within a small and growing team
  • Problem-solving and solution-driven mindset – able to quickly take on new ideas and has the ambition to challenge traditional thinking
  • Comfortable in the workshop/lab with a willingness to conduct practical material research and testing where needed.
  • Computer literate (familiar with using MS Office to write reports and procedures etc)

Nice to haves:

  • Expertise in biomaterials and their manufacturing
  • Expertise in structural colouration & optics
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • An eye and love for colour
  • Passionate about sustainability and the textiles industry
  • Managed external teams – experience with managing teams

Job Type:
Contract for 3 days a week, shifting to full time after 3-6 months

Salary:
Dependant on experience
