Posted: 14/12/23 | Deadline: 17/12/23

To apply, please email molly@thrift.plus with your cover letter and CV by 17th December.

The role and responsibilities:

We have ambitious targets for the year to come and this role would be spearheading crucial parts of Thrift+’s commercial performance with a focus on growth acceleration. As our Commercial Manager, you will play a diverse and pivotal role at the core of Thrift+ operations, leading our forecasting and trading strategy. You will have significant exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision making. This is a great opportunity to make a real impact in a fast paced startup with a great mission, with room for significant career progression.

We are looking for someone adept at optimising trading strategies, delving into data intricacies, and executing impactful improvements. The role demands a creative problem-solving approach and a keen eye for groundbreaking trading opportunities. Your responsibilities extend to managing complex, cross-functional projects, data analyses, forecasting and reporting, and implementations to optimise unit economics. Experience in e-commerce consumer goods is a plus.

Who we are looking for:

  • You have experience running a trading or commercial function, or looking to make the jump to running a commercial trading function and have at least 4 years experience in this role.
  • You might come from a background in other fast-paced startups but we are very open to a number of backgrounds.
  • You are data-driven: You’re the kind of person who loves working with dashboards and analysing complex datasets to extract important insights. You are highly curious and eager to understand commercial performance. Experience in SQL is a plus.
  • You are strategic AND highly executional: You not only identify levers to drive commercial success, you also deliver them in an impact-driven, organised, and well-managed way.
  • You are comfortable working autonomously: You can build and execute a strategy independently, handling regular reporting with ease.
  • You excel at prioritising and context switching: You work on a wide range of projects at the same time and can prioritise proactively and independently.
  • Shopify and marketplace (eBay or Amazon) experience are a plus.

What this looks like day-to-day:

  • Trading, forecasting and reporting: You will own our day-to-day trading performance, forecasting and reporting, with extensive knowledge about the D2C trading landscape and the key levers to drive repeat and new customer performance. You can identify and execute actionable levers and insights to meet trading targets.
  • Data driven decision making: You will analyse data to understand commercial performance and shopping behaviour and conduct regular deep dives to optimise commercial performance.
  • Work closely with marketing, operations and tech and external partners: You will build strong internal and external relationships and take ownership of driving cross-functional projects forward. You will be owning and managing multiple channels (including eBay and Shopify).
  • Optimising the customer journey: Ensure the website customer journey is optimised through analytics, customer research, and an understanding of the competition, continuously seeking opportunities to drive conversion.

Equal opportunities

At Thrift+, we want to work alongside people of all backgrounds because we understand the power and importance of diversity. Equal opportunity, inclusivity and diversity are celebrated here. Thrift+

If you haven’t come across Thrift+ before… we’re on a mission to prevent fashion waste, by creating the best place to sell, and to shop, second-hand clothes. Our ambition is to bring the circular economy for fashion to the mainstream and tackle one of the biggest environmental pollutants: the creation and destruction of clothing, which currently accounts for ~10% of global emissions.

Our unique ‘ThriftBag’ service means that all you have to do to find your unwanted clothing a new home is send it to us - we then sort, process, photograph and list your items, marketing them to our large and growing audience on our own website as well on other platforms like eBay. Once your item sells you earn credits which can be donated to your favourite charity, spent on second-hand fashion, or redeemed as gift vouchers.
