About us
40% of plastic packaging waste comes from groceries, and just 9% is recycled. We are on a mission to eliminate this and have built an entirely new system to fulfill the broad range of products that feature in the weekly shop either packaging-free or in reusables.
We’re backed by investors and are UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) grant recipients. We (the founders Paul and Mark) met as part of the founding team at tails.com (acquired) and have been early at graze.com (acquired), Zoopla (IPO), LoveFilm (acquired), and more.
What you will do
Get stuck in! As an early-stage business, we are most interested in your mindset and attitude.
Responsibilities
A typical day is split into two parts – fulfillment, followed by delivery. Currently, this means you’ll run fulfillment in the morning and deliver in the afternoon.
- Fulfillment – we produce orders on demand, including running our reusable containers through the fulfillment process, where we use custom equipment designed to make our team faster
- Fulfillment Tasks include goods in, container cleaning (using commercial machines), labeling with our unique MagicLabels system, filling, picking and packing
- Delivery – we operate our own fleet of electric vehicles, a mix of small electric vans, e-cargo bikes & trailers. Deliver orders to customers using these.
- When making deliveries be friendly and helpful, collect feedback, drive safely and courteously while making good progress (route planned by our app)
We currently deliver in the afternoons but aim to offer choice across the day as we grow, including mornings, evenings and weekends so working hours may vary.
Outside of these main areas, there are other varied tasks you may look after – such as re-ordering stock, operating our laser to mark our containers, and some customer service.
What we’re looking for
- Friendly, outgoing, helpful, and conscientious – go the extra mile for customers
- Bias to action – we’re a small team, we get things done
- Learning/growth mindset – grow into the business
- Mission aligned – we want to change the world and help save the planet, be energized by the idea that we could, and bring that energy to work
Please don’t worry if you don’t feel you tick all of the above, if you love our mission and think you’d fit please apply anyway. Building a diverse team is fundamental to the culture we want at weekly.shop and we’re eager to receive applications from all backgrounds. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination, and we are not looking for any specific academic or professional qualifications for consideration.
